My Favourite Characters!
Hi everyone!
I hope you're all doing well and staying safe. If you have read my last post, you'll know that I talked about some of my favourite books and that inspired me to right this little bonus post about my top 5 literary characters ever.
I found it quite hard to narrow down to 5 but I managed! That deserves an applaud in itself😂I have tried to avoid characters I mentioned in my previous post so be sure to check that out if you enjoy this post!
Without further ado, here goes...
*SPOILERS AHEAD*
1. Charlie, The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Charlie is most definitely the most complex character on this list. He certainly isn't perfect. But that is what I love. He struggles with mental health, making friends, trauma and so many other things that we all suffer with. The letter format that Chbosky uses is so personal that we get to understand Charlie on a whole new level. I've always appreciated the honesty surrounding Charlie's character. He is an introvert who loves to blend in and read, I can relate to that completely!
2. Jay Gatsby, The Great Gatsby
Jay Gatsby deserved better. There, I said it. He was such a romantic and just wanted to make Daisy happy. He bought a mansion and held weekly parties for her! Couldn't be me😂Nick was the only person who appreciated Gatsby for what he was, a kind hearted man. I will never not cry at the end of this book.
3. Hermione Granger, Harry Potter
We love strong, intelligent women and let's be honest, Harry and Ron wouldn't have made it past the first book without her. It was so empowering growing up with inspirations like her and definitely made an impression on me. I think she is great role model for young girls, showing them that anything is possible and to always stand up for ourselves.
4. Matilda Greyworm, Matilda
Matilda was always one of my favourite characters when growing up. I saw myself in her. We both just loved to read. Fortunately I had a much more supportive family and school, but nonetheless I related to her. She was kind and cheeky and that is so entertaining to read. I was so glad to see her get a happy ending at the end of the book. Also, did you know that her parents in the film were married in real life?! There's a fact for you that I didn't learn until last year.
5. Daenerys Targaryen, Game of Thrones
Daenerys is strong. She is so powerful yet remains kind and gentle. She wants to free people. She wants to save people and she doesn't want to hurt others in the process. We are going to ignore the ending to the tv show for the moment, but maybe i'll do a full post on that later😡 She is a great role model and treats those below her as her equals. And she has dragons! That's so cool!
That's all for today's post. I don't want to make these posts too long so I am trying to be wary of that. Let me know if you'd rather I go into more detail. And please leave a comment with your favourite characters. I think it'll be super interesting to see all your opinions.
